What to Expect, besides a wonderful time!!! :

These sing-alongs are different from regular Mindful and Musical classes in these five ways:

1. Instead of happening at The Alluvion, we are going directly into nursing homes and assisted living facilities in the community. (They can not come to us, so we will come to them! 💖)

2. Instead of Ms. Miriam providing snacks for the class, you are welcome to bring whatever snacks your family might enjoy. The reduced price reflects this difference. (But there will still be surprise treats from time to time, especially around holidays!)

3. Instead of yoga mats being provided for you, we ask that you please bring your own, or a blanket, so your family can sit comfortably on the floor among the residents!

4. While the vibe of Love, Kindness and Peace will still very much be the same, these sing-alongs in the residents' homes will be a little quieter, calmer and smaller than our huge, energetic Alluvion classes. Many residents may have dementia or hearing issues and the JOY of seeing your little ones will already create a lot of excitement and energy! While there will not be as many varieties of instruments as a usual class at the Alluvion, there WILL be colorful scarves, shakers or tambourines and bubbles for everyone to enjoy!

5. These intergenerational sing-alongs will be a good mix of "something for everyone" with elders having a chance to learn and enjoy songs for today's kids, and kids getting a chance to learn and enjoy songs from the older generations!

You can arrive 15 minutes ahead of time if you'd like to choose a spot for your family to settle in and and get to know other attendants.

At the start of these special classes, Ms. Miriam leads the way with a very brief welcome before diving in!

Songs, stories and themes with a strong emphasis on kindness, love, peace and honoring feelings will be shared!

Music! (original songs and famous favorites)
Light movement!
Mindfulness!

Storytime!
A Bubble-Machine Dance Party!
Songs from many different eras!

Length of Class:
The whole experience lasts about forty-five minutes. 35 minutes of music and storytime, plus another 10 minutes of visiting and socializing with the residents and with each other! Some homes will even allow for a little parade through the hallways, to wave at residents who didn't make it out of their rooms that day.

Movement:
Grown ups and kids will be sitting on the floor, but chairs are available if you prefer.

There will be a very light amount of movement the kids and families will be invited to enjoy (jumping, hopping, stretching, basic kids' Yoga poses, dancing together, etc.), so dress for whatever level of movement you are comfortable doing!

Chairs will also be available, if you prefer.

What to Bring:

A blanket or yoga mat for your crew to sit on.

Water and snacks for you & your kiddos.

Non-slip socks or clean indoor shoes for your little one to safely boogie-down in!

If you think your child might like having a favorite stuffed animal with them, please feel free to bring that too.

Please Note:
1. 💖🌎 Absolutely ALL are welcome! People of all sizes, colors, ages, abilities, cultures, beliefs, identities and personal expressions are wholeheartedly welcome. ❤️

2. Breast-feeding, bottle feeding and snacks during class are fine!

3. Candid pictures and videos of the class are sometimes taken and shared on our Mindful and Musical social media page and website.  ****If you would prefer that you and/or your kids be kept out of all photographs, I am very happy to respect your wishes!! Please let me know your preferences at the START of class.**** It is my deepest wish that everybody feels comfortable and happy at Mindful and Musical!
4. We teach respect by respecting. For example: If a child is feeling shy and does not want to join the others in dancing, playing, singing or interacting and would rather observe from the safety of their grown-ups' arms, that is OK!! When a child is ready, they will join, and until then, they have every right to take their time and will never ever be pressured. (In other words: we always treat children how we would want to be treated!)

5. No family will be turned away because of lack of funds. Please contact me (Ms. Miriam) at mindfulandmusical.com if you are in need of financial assistance to attend ANY Mindful and Musical event!

6. Due to the lack of extra space at the locations we will be visiting, each class will be capped at between 10-20 families. Please sign up ahead of time so you can make sure and save your spot! (Or if your child belongs to staff or residents at that day's nursing home, please text Ms. Miriam at 231-360-2898 to reserve your spot!)

7. If your family wants to create little cards or crafts for the residents, you are more than welcome to bring those and distribute as you wish! 🌹💌 🎨 🖌️

Families concerned about the spread of illness may choose to wear masks or stay socially distanced.
Hand sanitizer will be readily available to anyone who wishes to use it.
